BLOG 10: EVALUATION OF YOUR BLOGGING EXPERIENCE

Hi, classmates and teacher, I talk to you about my experiences in this course,

In the school, I do not have a good teacher in English, she just made us solve guides and she never explained the subject, for that before starting this course, I had a very poor vocabulary, pronunciation and a basic grammar;  and so in general, writing this blogs improved theses aspects. About the blogs, I liked write concerning my hobbies, my likes (series, movies, music), learn more about my classmates and topics related to our careers, but on the other hand, there were a bit boring topics, so it was difficult for me to have an idea, as the topic about a web site related with our career.

I think that a good way to improve the course is that after making the blog, we could read it to our classmates, so that we can improve our pronunciation and practice how to speak before an audience; you know what I mean, avoid nerves or avoid scenic panic. Also I think that we could write about a trip, our experiences, which we went with, anecdotes, what we liked most and things like that. 

BLOG 9: MOVIES AND SERIES

Personally, I’m somebody who likes watch series and movies, my favorite kind of series are medical and criminal like solve murder cases or incredible medical cases, you know what I mean CSI, Grey’s Anatomy, The Resident and Good Doctor.  Nowadays, I discovered a new series, with a different theme than the rest; this series is “LUCIFER”.  

This series is produced by Tom Kapinos and it is based on the DC Comics character. It currently has 4 seasons and the last one is in filming, each season has about 20 episodes with duration of 45 minutes each.

The principal character is Lucifer Morningstar (interpreted by the actor Tom Ellis), he is the Devil and he comes from the hell to take vacations in Los Angeles (L.A) with his best friend Mazikeen Smith, who is a demon. On his vacation he opened a exclusive bar called “Lux” and a other hand he meets a detective, Chloe Decker and her daughter Trixie. Lucifer helps the detective to solve murders, owing because of their power in people to tell the truth. 

I like this series, because I love the funny moments, the soundtrack and the sarcastic attitude of Lucifer.

BLOG 8: A SUBJECT I ENJOY STUDYING THIS SEMESTER

To be honest, this semester has been difficult for me, in the academic area. I had to get used to a new rhythm of classes, new teachers, new classmates, new subjects and a higher level of difficulty in evaluations, but the subject that I liked the most was chemistry laboratory, because it is the only practical subject this semester and it has a lot to do with what we will do as professionals.

In each class, the teachers gave us an introductory class and then in the laboratory they explained how to do and assemble the practice topic, so as not to make mistakes. Also we had a different topic each class, from learning the names of the most important materials like balance, funnel, volumetric pipet, beaker, buret ;  preparing chemical solutions with different concentrations, extracting properties of an orange peel and knowing the different techniques of distillation of a liquid to obtain a pure solvent. On the other hand, I am very grateful to the teachers and the assistant, because of them I learned new things and they were very kind explaining, despite questions more than once for the same topic.

BLOG 7: A CAREER-RELATED WEBSITE / AN EXPERT ON YOUR FIELD

Hello classmates, today I am gonna write about  Dmitri Ivanovich Mendeleyev who was a Russian chemist, traveler, photographer, collector and an important person for the chemistry. He was born on February 8th, 1834 and died on February 2nd, 1907, at the age of 72 years because of pneumonia. He studied in San Petersburg University and years later, was a  teacher of technology and chemistry in the same university. 

His greatest discovery was the pattern, in what is now known as the periodic table of the elements, an invention of great utility in the sciences, especially in chemistry and physics, the elements are grouped according to their atomic weights and valences. In addition, he intuited that there were still elements to be discovered and for this reason, there were gaps in the table, he pointed out the properties they should have. 

I admire this person because he contributed to a great development in the sciences, facilitating the study of chemistry for the people and giving way to others, discovered more elements.

BLOG 6: FAVOURITE SUPERHEROE, ANTIHEROE OR VILLAIN

I don't like the comic so I don't have a favourite superheroe but I searched one, "The Captain America" , his real name is Steven "Steve" Rogers, he was born on July 4th, 1922 and was created by the cartoonists Joe Simon and Jack Kirby.

In the beginning he was a weak and fragile man, that is why the American army was reject him,  but he did not give up and he participated in a top secret experiment for to contribute a better physical performance, this proyect was called "Operation Rebirth". 

After that Steve become more stronger, resistant to pain, agile, fast and for all this things, he became known as "The Captain America". 

The most representative thing of this superheroe is his indestructible shield, it is made of Vibranium , that is a metal of extraterrestrial origin. When he fight throws his shield at a great speed and this is able to return to his hands. 

In the cinema this superheroe is interpreted by Chris Evans and I like this actor, so I saw the movies only for him, that is the reason that why I like Captain America.

BLOG 5: A PHOTOGRAPH

I do not really like the photos, my parents always tell me that I must smile in our photos, it is very annoying. On the other hand I do not have a critical opinion when I see one of these, but I searched the internet for something that would call my attention.

I found this photo, titled "Lucky Strike", was taken by the professional American photographer Greg McCown on Saturday, August 8, 2015, in Tucson, state of Arizona. He said in an interview that it was very difficult to capture this moment, it took him more than seven years. For me it would be very difficult to be a professional photographer, it requires a lot of precision and work, I really admire his works. 

I like the photo because is about a rainbow and a ray together, it is something really incredible, since people think that they are characteristics of opposite climates, like the winter and his storms and summer and his rainbows after rain.

BLOG 4: FAVOURITE MUSICIAN

I am the type of person who is listening to music all the time, it has become a habit, but  the kind of music that I listen to depends on my mood of the day.

Anyway I like so much R & B music, it's a mix between jazz, gospel and blues, and it is  a very relaxing and addictive rhythm.

One of my favorite musicians is Bruno Mars, is an American singer and his real name is Peter Gene Hernandez, was born on October 1985 in Hawaii. The first song that I heard of him is The Lazy Song, in 2011 it sounded everywhere.

In general, I like him because he has interesting music videos, he always dancing and have a smooth and sexy voice.

My favorite album, is "24 Magic", and I recommend listening to "Versace On The Floor", it's my favorite song of Bruno, below I leave the link

BLOG 3: MY FAVOURITE PIECE OF TECHNOLOGY

This is difficult to answer because nowadays exist many kinds of technology but I have two favourites, my cell phone and my earphones. 

When I was 9 years, my parents gave me my first cellphone, it was a Nokia, it was like a brick but smaller, I was fascinating and  I always played  snake and bounce ball game, and the most important was that I could kept in contact with my parents, let them know that I had arrived at school or at home. I remember that my classmates passed me music through the infrared -

Nowadays I have a more modern cell phone with touch screen and many apps, my favourites are Spotify, Whatsapp and Instagram because I can texting with other people,  post pictures, watch videos and play Clash Royale . By the way I use spotify in my cell phone everyday and in every free time that I have, really love to do this, I put my earphones and a playlist, it is like my own world.

BLOG 2: WHY DID I CHOOSE THIS CAREER?

When I was a child my parents always talked about when we went out showed and talked to me about the differents jobs that I could do, also the professions of them, my father is a mechanical engineer and my mother auditor accountant. I remember that my first job when I was five I helped to my father passed him the tools he needed for the cars. 

Over the time in the school, when arrieved at home I watched in the TV medical and criminal series like CSI, Grey's Anatomy,Breaking Bad, I felt curiosity about the surgeries and experiments, it was amazing so I did summer courses of anatomy and chemestry at Universidad de Chile.

When I finished the highschool I did not a clear idea to what to do, so I looked for opinions about the two careers that I found more interesting, medicine and chemestry and farmacy, finally I decided for chemestry and farmacy, because I like the laboraty and this  profession have a many places to work.. So I go into the USACH to study, I had practice laboratory and was as interesting as I had imagined, in that moment I thought "This is what I want for me in the future", also I had Italian, it was a new expericience in language  and I love it. However in the middle of the year , I did not comfortable in the university , I talked with my parents and they supported me to changed the university. Now I am at Universidad de Chile.

In the future I want to work in a hospital, in the intensive care unit. I like to have contact with the persons and I want to help them with their health.

BLOG 1: MY AUTOBIOGRAPHY

I Dariana Valeria Quintanilla Jara was born on November 6th, 1999, so actually I am 19 years old. I grew up in Frutillar in the south of Chile with my parents Claudia and Pablo and my older sister Dominique, but when I was 5 years , we moved to Santiago to live with my grandparents  because my father found a new job. In the same year I started the elementary near of my new house in the El Bosque district, the school call "Liahona Gran Avenida. In the next year 2007 my little brother Vicente was born.

In 2012 , I changed the school and I got into Liceo 1 Javiera Carrera in the center of Santiago. I completed my high school studies at that institution. 

Since I was child, I wanted to study something related with health. When I received my results of the PSU, I didn't know what to do, so I got into Chemestry and Farmacy at USACH, I completed my first year but I didn't feel comfortable so I changed the university and this year I got into the same career but at Universidad de Chile.

In my freetime I enjoy watching series on Netflix , listening to music, reading and walking in the park.

Hi...my name is Dariana Quintanilla and I introduce myself in the next blog.

I was born in Frutillar in the south of Chile on November 6th, 1999. It is a beautiful and insteresting place but now I live in Santiago, specifically in the center, near of Almagro Park with my parents, my little brother and my pet. 

Actually I study Chemestry and Farmacy at Universidad de Chile. I chose this career because I want to help people with their health but not directly like a doctor and I love working in a laboratory.

When I arrive at my home after class, I usually study and then I go to the park with my dog, her name is Milica, I called her like that because I found her in a military center in Puerto Aysen. But when it's cold or rainy I stay in home and watch series in Netflix. I like the series about the life in a hospital or documentaries of Egyptian eras.

Always in my freetime I like to listen to music, I don't have a favourite kind of music, I just put a playlist on Spotify while I see photos on Instagram.
